Frequently Asked Questions about
our Board of Trustees
WHY DOES KINDERVELT NEED A BOARD OF TRUSTEES?
The board is an important
function of being a coordinating and policy making body, responsible for ensuring
that the organization runs smoothly and in the best interest of all members.
HOW CAN KINDERVELT MEMBERS BECOME MEMBERS OF
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, THE MARKT STEERING COMMITTEE AND OTHER CITYWIDE
COMMITTEES?
Let your interest be known. Don’t be shy.
Advertise your special talent. The nominating committee is always looking
for Kindervelt members to fill special jobs.
The committee sends out information sheets in our newsletter. This information lists all open positions.
Any members who are interested can fill out the form and return it to the
nominating chairperson.
WHY DO WE HAVE PRESIDENT’S COUNCIL MEETINGS?
These meetings are held the first
Monday of each month from September through June, except for January. They provide an opportunity for all group presidents
and board members to exchange information.
The president then takes this information back to their group meeting to
share with the members. These meetings
are vital for providing cohesion and unity for our large organization.
WHO IS A LIAISON AND WHAT IS HER ROLE?
A liaison is a member of the board
of trustees. She is the link between the
group president and the other board members.
She lends a feeling of close, personal contact to the president and
maintains a close knit link by having a smaller group within the larger organization. Currently, we have five liaisons with an
average of eight to ten groups per liaison.
SHOULD A KINDERVELT MEMBER FEEL FREE TO CALL
ANY BOARD MEMBER WHEN A PROBLEM ARISES?
Yes. Any member of the board will gladly try to
help solve a problem. A list of the
board members is included in the President’s Survival Kit, in the monthly
Kindervelt newsletter, as well as on the Kindervelt web site. www.kindervelt.org
WHAT ARE CITYWIDE WORKSHOPS AND WHY DO WE
HAVE THEM?
These are two to three hour
sessions held once a year in May for specific officers of the community
groups. These officers are membership,
publicity, projects and treasurer. In
June we have the president’s workshop and in the spring and the fall Markt Reps
have their workshops for Kinderklaus Markt and Kindervelt Gala. It is here that procedures common to all Kindervelt
groups are clarified and suggestions for carrying out responsibilities are
given.
