Cincinnati Children's Heart Institute: Kindervelt Neurodevelopmental, Educational and Learning Center
Kindervelt is proud to support the breakthrough care provided through the Heart Institute Neurodevelopmental Educational and Learning Center Clinic at Cincinnati Children’s for the next four years from 2012- 2016.
Research shows that children with complex heart problems are at a greater risk for a wide-range of neurodevelopmental issues such as delayed fine and gross motor skills; difficulties with speech and language; attention, behavioral and emotional problems; delayed school preparedness, and more.
The Kindervelt Neurodevelopmental, Educational and Learning Center is one of the first programs in the country to provide targeted, individualized care to meet all of a child’s needs and prepare them for their best future.
The clinic is unique for many reasons, but primarily because it provides ongoing care as children grow and develop over time. The multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluation for infants through adolescents by offering families the appropriate screening, evaluation and treatment resources. The team of experts includes:
- Pediatric Cardiologists
- Pediatric Cardiac Advanced Practice Nurses and Care Managers
- School Liaison and Educational Specialists
- Pediatric Psychologists
- Developmental-Behavioral Pediatricians
- Pediatric Neurologists
- Pediatric Occupational Therapists
- Pediatric Dieticians
- Social Workers
- Child Life Specialists
Kindervelt is proud to partner with the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children’s. Together, we will change the outcome for children with complicated heart issues and the families who love them.
